The space

Built in 1891 as the original Windsor Cable Tram Engine House, our namesake space is bathed in as much history as it is natural light. A huge, white-washed industrial space with obnoxiously high ceilings, for those of us who can’t be creative from a beige office cubicle. There’s also a sunlit courtyard, for work or relaxation, and undercover bicycle parking just to make that commute a little easier for you.

“I’ve been at Engine House for almost a year. It’s a great community of diverse people with a fabulous atmosphere. The light and high ceilings is a bonus, to be able to hear the rain on the roof is an added blessing! I’ve worked from shared studios and also so from home over the years, Engine House strikes a perfect balance for me. During Covid, the EH team handled the situation admirably, constantly communicating and instigating all the procedures pronto. Simply a great space to be part of run by good folk.”

The location

Tucked behind the iconic Astor Theatre, Engine House St Kilda is a handy 6-minute walk to Chapel St and Windsor Railway Station (we double-checked), not to mention, it’s surrounded by free on-street parking and plenty of tram stops. Spoilt for choice for both transport, and lunch options.
